Guide Cecil and his party through towns and dungeons, battle enemies in real time, and stop Golbez from claiming the crystals in this easier version of Final Fantasy IV.

Final Fantasy IV - Easy Type came out in 1991 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Square. It was a simplified version of the original Final Fantasy IV, aimed at players who might have found the standard release too demanding. This version appeared early in the SNES lifecycle, when RPGs were still establishing their conventions outside Japan.
You control Cecil, a dark knight turned paladin, leading a party of characters through towns, caves, and castles. Your main goal is to stop the sorcerer Golbez from seizing powerful crystals. The game uses an active time battle system, where enemies attack in real time, and you explore screen by screen, uncovering treasure and engaging in turn based combat with swords, magic, and bows. The pacing is brisk, and the reduced difficulty means fewer random encounters and lower prices in shops. It feels accessible, almost relaxed, compared to the tension of the original.
