Ultimate Mortal Kombat on the DS somehow makes the classic blood-soaked brawler work on a tiny screen—and honestly, it’s kind of impressive. You’ve got all the usual suspects like Scorpion and Sub-Zero, plus some new faces, each with their own ridiculous fatalities (yes, the pixelated gore is still there).

The controls take a second to get used to—you’ll be fumbling with the D-pad at first—but once you nail a few combos, it feels surprisingly smooth. There’s even a weird but fun puzzle mode if you need a break from uppercutting people into spikes. Just don’t expect the graphics to blow you away; this is very much a DS game, not a console port.
